There was panic on Friday when a woman, yet to be identified, died in a tricycle while traveling in the Isheri, Idimu area of Lagos State.
According to reports, the deceased boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road and was heading to the Isheri end of the area.
Upon reaching her stop, the tricycle rider notified her of the destination. He was shocked to find her unresponsive and later discovered she was motionless.
An eyewitness, preferring anonymity due to the sensitivity of the incident, told our correspondent that passersby were alerted by the rider and found the passenger unresponsive.
He said, “I was near the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider calling for help. We saw a woman with her head resting on the tricycle’s middle barricade, unresponsive. The rider said he expected her to get out and pay her fare at Isheri, the last stop, but she wasn’t responding, so he raised the alarm. The area became crowded quickly.”
Another eyewitness, Sodiq, mentioned that attempts to revive her failed.
He added that the police arrived at the scene, causing people to disperse quickly.
He said, “People tried to revive her but couldn’t. When the police arrived, people left the spot to avoid implication.”
“Some suggested she might have had an ailment or suffered a heart attack,” Sodiq added.
The tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station, and the deceased was taken to an undisclosed hospital.
Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin could not be reached, and a text message sent to him had not been replied to at the time of this report.
