Governor Seyi Makinde Commissions New Olubadan Palace in Ibadan

Governor Seyi Makinde officially commissioned the new Olubadan Palace in Ibadan. The event was an opportunity for the Governor to acknowledge and thank everyone who contributed to the realization of this significant project.

Among those recognized were former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who initiated the project, and notable Ibadan indigenes such as Chief O. O. Bello, former President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), and Chief Bayo Oyero. Governor Makinde expressed gratitude to all Ibadan indigenes who contributed to the project.

To ensure the maintenance of the new palace, Governor Makinde announced the establishment of a process where all 11 local government councils in Ibadan will contribute to its upkeep on a monthly basis. Additionally, he revealed plans for the second phase of the palace, which will include the renovation of Bower’s Tower, aimed at boosting tourism in the state.

The ceremony set the stage for the upcoming coronation of the Olubadan, scheduled to take place this Friday.
