The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, has commissioned motorized boreholes in Mabon, Gbalesun, and Fodoko villages of the council area, in line with the directive of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State, to address the cholera outbreak.
The council boss also inaugurated newly installed and energized electricity transformers in Owojo village, which had been without power for the past 17 years.
He emphasized that these projects fulfill promises made during election campaigns, particularly highlighting Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to providing quality water sources to rural communities amid the cholera crisis.
During a visit to Ogunmakin town, the chairman inspected an electricity transformer soon to be commissioned.
The Olu of Obafemi, His Royal Highness Oba Taofeek Kayode Owolabi, praised the government for its impact on villages under his domain, especially in water provision during Amb. Ogunsola’s visit to his palace.
Chief Alabi Akinmuyiwa, Baale of Mabon Village, aged over 95, recalled relying on stream water since childhood and praised the realization of the motorized borehole in Mabon, foreseeing benefits for neighboring communities.
Mr. Wasiu Owolabi, a community leader in Gbalesun Village, described the borehole as a significant relief and the first of its kind in their area, thanking the government and urging villagers to maintain it.
Similarly, Mr. Folarin Samuel, Community Leader of Fodoko village, expressed satisfaction with the project’s quality, thanking the government for addressing their community’s water needs and appealing for electricity provision.
