Political leaders from various wards in Obio/Akpor staged a solidarity march supporting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The protesters have gathered at the Rumueme Civic Centre in Port Harcourt, urging the Inspector General of Police to maintain a strong presence in the councils and resist any form of intimidation.
The demonstrators emphasized the need for continued police oversight to ensure security and order within the councils.
They expressed concerns over potential threats and called on the Inspector General to stand firm against any pressure that might undermine stability in the state.
The protesters carried banners and placards showing their unwavering support for Wike.The protests were sparked by Governor Sim Fubara’s decision to sack Wike loyalists at the local councils.
Fubara has since replaced the sacked council bosses, although the secretariats remain locked.Watch the video of the protests below:
