A 19-year-old Imole Dauda and a 30-year-old Lateef Tajudeen, who allegedly beat a 22-year-old to death with a ‘koboko’, were brought before the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan, Oyo State on Friday.
The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, face charges of conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, informed the court that the defendants committed the crime on May 10 at 8:00 a.m. in Ilupeju, Ibadan.
Adegbite alleged that the pair unlawfully caused the death of Mr. Tosin Adenuga by beating him with a ‘koboko’ all over his body.
He stated that the offences violated Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho, did not take their pleas due to a lack of jurisdiction.
She instructed the police to forward the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
Osho adjourned the case until July 18 for mention.
