No Nigerian Worker Will Be Subjected to Inhumane Conditions Again – Senate President

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has pledged that the National Assembly and the executive branch of the government will work together to ensure Nigerian workers receive a living wage and improved working conditions.

Akpabio stated, “No Nigerian worker will again be subjected to inhumane conditions. We will do everything to give you the best because you deserve the best.”

He made the promise in a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, in celebration of the 2024 May Day.

The Senate President praised the dedication and qualities of Nigerian workers, saying, “A Nigerian worker is known for patriotism, hard work, resilience, and dedication to duty.”

He expressed his appreciation for the Nigerian workforce, stating, “I am happy to have worked with Nigerian workers for over 25 years, and I can affirm that their spirit is one of dedication and resilience.”

Regarding this year’s Workers’ Day theme, “Ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate,” Akpabio promised that the National Assembly under his leadership is committed to creating the best working conditions for Nigerian workers.

The Senate President emphasized that the theme aligns with international best practices and assured that Nigeria will not lag behind in ensuring the safety and well-being of its workforce.
