OGUN State’s Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele FNSE, has thrown her support behind Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya as he embarks on a historic attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.
Onakoya’s mission: to play non-stop for a staggering 58 hours, commencing from 10 am on April 17 until 8 pm on April 19 in the iconic Times Square, New York City.
In a bid to raise awareness for the education plight of countless African children, Onakoya, the founder of Chess in Slums Africa, aims to make history while championing a cause close to his heart.
The current Guinness World Record stands at an impressive 56 hours, 09 minutes, and 37 seconds, achieved by Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad from Norway on November 11, 2018.
With the support of Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the collective hopes of millions, Onakoya’s quest for the record promises to captivate audiences worldwide.
Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele shared her endorsement on Instagram, posting a picture of Onakoya holding a Nigeria flag with the caption, “Best of luck,” underscoring her encouragement for the groundbreaking endeavour.
Stay tuned for updates on this extraordinary feat
