Tinubu Administration Plans to Trim Presidential Air Fleet, Sells Three Aircraft to Cut Costs

The Tinubu Administration has announced its intention to offload three aircraft from the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF). This strategic decision comes against the backdrop of mounting concerns over the escalating maintenance expenses associated with the fleet.

Currently housing ten aircraft, including six jets and four helicopters, the proposed divestment would see the fleet downsized to seven aircraft.President Tinubu’s decision to part ways with the three identified aircraft stems from a pressing need to curtail the burgeoning costs of upkeep.

According to sources close to the administration, these particular aircraft have been singled out due to their significant drain on maintenance resources.A source familiar with the matter shared insights with a national newspaper, stating,

“The President is deeply concerned about the surging costs linked to the maintenance of these aircraft. Three have been earmarked for disposal, with the primary objective being to mitigate the strain of high maintenance expenses.

“This strategic move underscores the administration’s commitment to prudent financial management amid prevailing economic challenges.

As discussions proceed regarding the implementation of this decision, stakeholders await further developments regarding the fate of the Presidential Air Fleet.
