The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has executed a major operation, resulting in the arrest of 74 individuals suspected of perpetrating internet fraud in Ogun State. The arrests, conducted in the Government Residential Area (G.R.A), Shagamu, were carried out following extensive surveillance and intelligence operations.
Seizing a significant cache of evidence, including seven luxury vehicles, three laptops, 124 mobile phones, a PlayStation 3 console, two motorcycles, and various incriminating documents, the EFCC has dealt a significant blow to cybercrime in the region.
These arrests come as part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes and protect citizens from online scams. According to EFCC the suspects will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.
