The Nigeria Football Federation has named Augustine Eguavoen as the interim coach for the Super Eagles, following Jose Peseiro’s departure on Friday, February 1.

Peseiro bid farewell to Nigerians, confirming his exit after his contract with the NFF expired, post leading the Super Eagles to clinch the silver medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Eguavoen, who previously served as Nigeria’s interim manager for the 2021 AFCON, where the team reached the Round of 16, will now lead the Three-time AFCON winners until a permanent successor for Peseiro is found.

Former Nigeria defender and the current Super Eagles Technical Director, Eguavoen, is considered a top contender for the permanent coaching position. Stay tuned for further updates as the NFF begins the search for Peseiro’s successor.
