In a remarkable celebration of tradition, leadership, and the strength of women in commerce, Chief (Mrs.) Olasonde Oduwaiye was officially installed as the Iyaloja of Remoland in a grand ceremony that drew dignitaries from across Ogun State.
The event, which took place in the presence of Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele FNSE, Deputy Governor of Ogun State, H.E. Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Senator representing Ogun East, and the Akarigbo of Remoland, HRM Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Ajayi CFR, among others, was described as a moment of pride by Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, Ogun State’s Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.
In her words, “It was a moment of pride as I witnessed the installation of Chief (Mrs.) Olasonde Oduwaiye as the Iyaloja of Remoland, in a grand ceremony graced by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele FNSE, the Senator representing Ogun East, H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Akarigbo of Remoland, HRM Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Ajayi CFR amongst other political dignitaries, Royal Fathers and community leaders. The event reaffirmed the crucial role of market women in our economy.”
She further highlighted Chief Oduwaiye’s contributions and significance, describing her as “more than a business mogul—she is a symbol of strength and leadership.” The Commissioner emphasized the importance of the Iyaloja institution in promoting female leadership, economic development, and community cohesion.
“Her appointment is a tribute to market women who serve as economic drivers, organizers, and influencers. The Iyaloja institution continues to nurture female leadership through dispute resolution, cooperative organization, and community engagement,” Adeleye said.
As Chief Oduwaiye begins her new role, Hon. Adeleye expressed optimism for the future: “As she assumes this role, I pray her tenure ushers in peace, innovation, and growth across Remoland markets.”
The installation marks a new chapter for the markets of Remoland, with expectations high for strengthened grassroots mobilization and sustainable economic advancement under Chief Oduwaiye’s leadership.
