The Coordinator of the APC Youth League, Ogun State Coordinate, Yunus Fayomi, has charged young people to actively engage in nation-building and contribute to the political process. He made this call during the 1st Annual Ramadan Lecture and Iftar organized by the APC Youth League, Abeokuta South Local Government Coordinate, held at the APC Abeokuta South Local Government Secretariat, Ijaye, yesterday.
The event, which focused on the theme, “Roles of Youths in Politics: Islamic Perspective,” brought together youth leaders, community stakeholders, and Islamic scholars to discuss the importance of youth involvement in shaping the nation’s future.
In his remarks, Fayomi emphasized that youth engagement in politics is crucial for the development and sustainability of democracy. He encouraged young people to take active roles in the political landscape while upholding the values of integrity, honesty, and service.
The Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Olaniyi Afeez Balogun, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Chief Mrs. Oluranti Ogunmoku Ogunjemilusi, commended the APC Youth League for organizing the event and fostering political awareness among the youth. She reiterated the local government’s commitment to supporting youth-driven initiatives that promote peaceful and responsible participation in politics.
The guest speaker, ABD Sobur Amolegbe, a renowned Islamic scholar, delivered a thought-provoking lecture emphasizing the Islamic principles of truthfulness and justice in political engagements. He urged the youth to participate in politics with integrity and to see public service as a means of improving society rather than for personal gain.
In his address, the Abeokuta South Local Government Coordinator of the APC Youth League, Hussein Hammed, expressed gratitude to all attendees and highlighted the importance of youth unity in promoting the progressive agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event concluded with a communal Iftar, fostering fellowship and unity among participants. The APC Youth League reaffirmed its dedication to empowering young people and fostering their active involvement in politics and community development.
