The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has urged the youth of Ogun State to remain resilient in their pursuit of self-development. She made this call during the Annual Family Ramadan Lecture/Tafsir held at the Ota Recreation Club Field, GRA Ota, on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Delivering her keynote address to an audience comprising youths, community leaders, party faithful, religious figures, and others, the Deputy Governor rallied support for Ogun youth. She encouraged them to take advantage of available government opportunities such as the Amotekun and N-Teach programmes to apply for positions and gain valuable experience. She emphasized the importance of acquiring relevant skills and knowledge to thrive in today’s world, highlighting various initiatives introduced by the state government to empower young people.
“Ogun State is committed to creating an enabling environment for our youth to excel,” she stated. “We encourage you to explore these opportunities, build your capacity, and contribute to the development of our state.”
She further stressed the importance of moral uprightness, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, urging the youth to imbibe the virtues of patience, perseverance, and dedication.
“Ramadan is a time for reflection and spiritual growth,” she said. “Let us use this period to strengthen our faith and strive to become better individuals.”
In his vote of thanks to the host and Deputy Governor, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, said, “We are grateful for the Deputy Governor’s unwavering dedication to the youth of Ogun State. Her efforts are truly inspiring.”
The lecture also featured an insightful presentation by the Chief Imam of Ilaro and Secretary-General of the Ogun State League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Imam Tajudeen Adewunmi, who delivered sermons on the significance of Ramadan and the responsibilities of leadership in serving the community.
The Deputy Governor expressed her appreciation to the organizers and participants, reiterating the Ogun State Government’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and improving the welfare of citizens across the state.
