Chief Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin (AIO) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Sheikh Jamiu Kewuyemi, describing him as a distinguished Islamic scholar and a dedicated tutor whose commitment to the growth of Islam was unwavering.
In a condolence message addressed to the Ila Muslim Community and the family of the late scholar, Oluwatosin said, “With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Ila Muslim Community and the family of Alhaji Sheikh Jamiu Kewuyemi, who returned to his Creator earlier today.”
Reflecting on the life of the deceased, he highlighted Kewuyemi’s role as a true Islamic activist whose greatest fulfillment was in the advancement and prosperity of the religion. “Baba, without mincing words, was a distinguished Islamic scholar, a dedicated tutor, and a man whose devotion to the growth of Islam knew no bounds,” he stated.
Beyond his contributions to Islamic teachings, Oluwatosin described the late scholar as “a man of peace, a mentor to many, and a lover of all who prioritized harmony above all else.” He acknowledged that Kewuyemi’s passing is a significant loss, not just to his family but to the entire Muslim Ummah in Ila-Orangun and beyond.
Praying for the repose of his soul, he added, “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and reward him abundantly for his lifetime of service to Islam. I also pray that Allah grants the entire Muslim Ummah, his family, students, and loved ones the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
The passing of Alhaji Sheikh Jamiu Kewuyemi has left a void in the Islamic community, and his contributions will be remembered for generations.
