Edo Elections: Police Enforce Post-Election Security Plan

As the Edo 2024 Governorship Elections draw to a close, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) overseeing the elections, DIG Frank Mba, has initiated the Force’s post-election security measures.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, September 22, 2024, by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, these measures include a Show of Force Exercise aimed at boosting public confidence and assuring citizens of the Force’s readiness to handle any potential threats to public safety and security in the state.

“As part of the post-election security plan, the DIG has directed increased deployment around INEC offices, key election stakeholders, and other critical infrastructure in the state,” Adejobi stated.

The Nigeria Police also urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding while carrying out their daily activities.

“The Force warns against any action by individuals or groups that could disrupt the peace in the state, stressing that the police and other security forces are fully prepared to maintain order,” the statement concluded.
