Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has announced the suspension of Otonye Briggs, chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area (LGA).

The announcement was made through a statement issued on Tuesday, September 17, by Nelson Chukwudi, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary.

Briggs’ suspension took immediate effect, although the statement did not provide specific reasons for the action.

Governor Fubara has appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the caretaker chairman to manage the affairs of the local government.

The governor also directed Briggs to hand over all council assets in his possession to the newly appointed caretaker.
