The Ogun State House of Assembly has enacted the State Power Sector Law 2024 to enhance electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the state. This new legislation aims to address the energy challenges faced by residents and businesses.

The bill was passed following the presentation of the Report of the Whole by Deputy Speaker Bolanle Ajayi, who proposed its adoption. Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye seconded the motion, and other members supported it through a voiced vote during today’s session, overseen by Speaker Rt. Hon. The bill was examined and approved clause-by-clause by the Committee of the Whole. The motion for its third reading was proposed by Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Hon. Adeleye, and unanimously approved by the House through a voice vote.

Subsequently, the Clerk of the Assembly, Sakiru Adebakin, carried out the third reading of the bill. The Speaker then instructed that the final version of the bill be sent to State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his approval.

Additionally, the Assembly reviewed the Committee on Lands and Housing’s report on a petition from Ifedapo CDA on behalf of Olorungbemileke CDA regarding land in Oke-Ela, Akede Isale Osoba, Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area. The petition was against the Philip Otegbeye Family in Ilaro concerning land in Oke-Ela.

This resolution followed the intervention of the Olu of Ilaro, His Royal Highness Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, on Friday, March 22, 2024.”
