FG Arraigns 10 #EndBadGovernance Protesters on Treason Charges

The defendants, while taking their pleas before the presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, pleaded not guilty to the six charges filed against them.

 

The Nigerian government on Monday arraigned 10 youths who were arrested in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe for advocating for good governance during a protest labeled #EndBadGovernance. They are facing charges, including treasonable felony, at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

 

The defendants, who appeared before the court under tight security, maintained their innocence regarding the six charges brought against them.

 

A document from the court, obtained on Sunday, showed that the charges were leveled against 10 individuals identified as protesters. The defendants listed include Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye (also known as Lenin), 28; Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi (also known as Yomi), 34; Suleiman Yakubu, 28; Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon, 50; Angel Love Innocent, 51; Buhari Lawal, 21; Mosiu Sadiq, 28; Bashir Bello (also known as Murtala), 51; Nuradeen Khamis, 47; and Abdulsalam Zubairu, 37.

 

Representing the defendants in court, Abubakar Marshal is defending the 1st to 4th defendants, Hamza is representing the 5th defendant, Deji Adeyanju is advocating for the 6th to 8th defendants, and Ahmed Abdulrahaman is appearing for the 9th defendant.
