Ogun Women Affairs Commissioner Advocates for Stronger SRHR Policies at CSW69 in New York

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ogun State, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and gender equality. She made this known while speaking at the ongoing CSW69 event in New York.

At the session titled “Charting a New Path for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Nigeria: CSOs National Report on Beijing +30 Review,” Hon. Adeleye joined other key stakeholders, including the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs in Oyo State, Hon. Ayobola Awolowo, Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, Prof. Joy Ezeilo, Dr. Lucky Palmer, and Dr. Esther Misheila. The session was chaired by Her Excellency, Bisi Adeleye Fayemi.

Hon. Adeleye highlighted Ogun State’s proactive efforts in strengthening reproductive health services, tackling gender-based violence, and expanding healthcare access for women and girls, particularly in underserved communities. She emphasized the importance of policy reforms, awareness campaigns, and multi-sectoral collaborations in achieving meaningful progress in SRHR.

She also outlined the state’s strategic roadmap for the future, calling for stronger partnerships with civil society organizations, private sector stakeholders, and international development agencies to drive sustainable change.

The discussions at CSW69, she noted, have reinforced the urgency of collective action in addressing SRHR challenges in Nigeria and beyond, as global conversations continue to shape policies and interventions for the future.
