Girls’ Education: A Catalyst for Nation-Building, Says Ogun Women Affairs Commissioner Adeleye

The Ogun State Government has reiterated its dedication to promoting female education and empowerment as the Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School Old Girls’ Association (AGGSOGA) marked its 70th anniversary.

A delegation from AGGSOGA, led by its Global President, Engr. (Mrs.) Solape Ajibola, was received at the Governor’s Office by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, alongside the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, and the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu.

Speaking on the significance of the visit, Hon. Adeleye stated, “Receiving the team as part of their celebrations marking the School’s 70th Anniversary underscores the present administration’s commitment to honouring female educational excellence and empowerment.”

She further emphasized the transformative impact of investing in girls’ education, noting that the distinguished AGGSOGA members serve as proof of its benefits. “Their lofty life achievements are a demonstration of the transformative power of investing in the education of young girls, as such investments pave the way for success and nation-building,” she said.

The event reinforced the importance of nurturing female talent through quality education, with a call to parents and guardians to support initiatives that empower young women for a brighter and more prosperous future.
