Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo, the Alaperu of Iperu, describing his death as a great loss to the Iperu community and beyond.
In a heartfelt tribute, Salako-Oyedele stated, “I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of His Royal Highness Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo, the Alaperu of Iperu. This is a profound loss, not just for his family but for the entire Iperu community and all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
She highlighted the monarch’s impactful reign, spanning nearly 23 years, during which he was a “revered traditional ruler who led with wisdom, dignity, and a deep sense of responsibility for his people.” She further described him as “a pillar of peace, a custodian of our heritage, and a bridge between tradition and progress,” noting that his warm and kind nature endeared him to many.
Recalling her personal interactions with the late monarch, she shared, “My husband and I were privileged to have experienced his friendship and goodwill firsthand. Our last meeting, exactly two weeks ago, will forever remain in our hearts.”
While mourning his passing, the deputy governor also celebrated his legacy, stating, “As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived, a life of service, impact, and dedication to his people. May his legacy continue to inspire, and may his soul rest in perfect peace.”
She extended her condolences to the royal family, the people of Iperu, and Governor Dapo Abiodun, adding, “May the Almighty grant us all the fortitude to bear this loss.”
