Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has officially launched the emblem of the Armed Forces ahead of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day commemoration. The event, held yesterday, provided a reflective moment for the governor as he paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of military personnel.
In his remarks, Uzodimma expressed deep nostalgia while honoring the military’s role in preserving national freedom. “This moment filled me with profound nostalgia as I reflected on the courage and sacrifices of our military personnel who have selflessly given their freedom for ours,” he said.
The governor also highlighted the often-overlooked sacrifices of military families. “It is also a poignant reminder of the silent sacrifices made by their families, who bear the weight of their absence and the burden of their duty,” he added.
Emphasizing the importance of public support, Uzodimma urged citizens to actively assist the armed forces through various means. “Supporting our military is not just a duty but a moral obligation for every citizen of our great nation,” he noted.
He called on Nigerians to show solidarity through acts of kindness, advocacy, and tangible assistance, stressing the need to alleviate the challenges faced by the military and their families. “Let us collectively ensure we lighten their burden and honor their sacrifices with enduring gratitude,” the governor concluded.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, an annual event in Nigeria, honors the sacrifices of fallen heroes and highlights the ongoing contributions of the military in ensuring national security.
