Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has signed the 2025 appropriation bill, valued at N615.86 billion, into law.
The budget estimate of N584.76 billion was initially presented by Zulum on December 9, 2024. After deliberations, the State Assembly approved it on December 24 with an upward adjustment of N31 billion.
During a brief ceremony held at the Council Chamber of Government House on Monday, Governor Zulum, while assenting to the budget titled “Budget of Recovery and Continuity,” reaffirmed his commitment to completing key projects promised during his 2023 campaigns.
He urged heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as well as members of the state executive council to adhere strictly to the provisions of the appropriation bill when submitting memos for approvals.
The governor appreciated the Borno State House of Assembly for their prompt approval of the budget.
Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, the Speaker of the State Assembly, praised the governor for his impactful leadership and successful execution of developmental projects over the past six years. Lawan explained that the upward adjustment of the budget was to include additional critical, people-oriented projects to be implemented by MDAs.
