The Baale of Keesan Orile in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, Waheed Adeyemi Abodunrin, has applauded Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his dedication to rapid infrastructural and human capital development.
He also commended the Governor for fostering a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, positioning Ogun as Nigeria’s leader in the Ease of Doing Business rankings.
Abodunrin shared these thoughts during a media chat on Monday, discussing governance and the role of traditional institutions, especially in Ogun State.
The traditional leader highlighted the Governor’s efforts in addressing past neglect and enhancing security in the State. He noted that the administration’s effective control of Ogun’s security architecture has significantly curtailed cultist activities and other criminal acts.
Abodunrin also described the relationship between the government and traditional institutions as exemplary, stating that it has facilitated seamless community participation in governance.
“I believe Prince Dapo Abiodun has shown himself as a natural-born leader with noble qualities. He has redefined governance with humility and efficiency despite Nigeria’s challenging political landscape.
“His approach to reviving neglected rural roads and border communities, particularly those linking Lagos, has been commendable and transformative.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to road infrastructure is exceptional. Reconstructing federal roads like the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and the Benin-Ijebu-Ode road, alongside building over 600km of roads in under six years without owing workers, is remarkable.
“Another notable achievement is his reorganization of Ogun’s security framework. The synergy he has fostered among security agencies and the strengthening of local formations like Amotekun for intelligence gathering have drastically reduced criminal activities, creating a vibrant business environment.
“With over 6,000 manufacturing firms, Ogun is now the fastest-growing State in terms of internally generated revenue, trailing only Lagos and possibly Rivers State.
“We are proud to identify with the Gateway State. For example, the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport along the Ilisan-Iperu axis boasts state-of-the-art facilities, the longest runway in West Africa, and is regarded as Nigeria’s best airport.
“My advice to the Governor in the new year is to sustain this pace of transformation. The traditional institution and other groups in the State are firmly behind him and deeply appreciate his commitment to Ogun’s progress.
“On behalf of myself and the entire Keesan Orile Land, I wish our esteemed Governor a prosperous new year,” Abodunrin concluded.
