Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has suggested that striker Marc Guiu has been unfortunate not to secure regular Premier League playing time due to the performances of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku
Speaking after Guiu’s hat-trick in Chelsea’s 5-1 Conference League triumph over Shamrock Rovers on Thursday, Maresca praised the young forward while emphasizing the strength of the competition in the squad.
Guiu’s three goals, along with strikes from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Cucurella, sealed a dominant victory for the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
“Don’t forget Marc Guiu’s age! He’s scored six goals, and he’s born in 2006, just like Acheampong,” Maresca said post-match.
“He must keep working hard. He’s just unlucky because Nico Jackson and Nkunku are performing brilliantly.
“January loan? We’ll see what happens,” the Chelsea boss concluded.
