Trending: Fans Compare Manchester United’s Luke Shaw to Nigeria’s National Grid After Latest Injury

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has once again found himself sidelined, sparking a flurry of reactions on social media. Fans have humorously likened him to Nigeria’s national grid, which has also faced multiple collapses this year, due to Shaw’s consistent injuries and lengthy absences from the pitch.

Since 2015, the 29-year-old left-back has been injured 27 times, missing an incredible 1,528 days—over four years—and 325 competitive games.

This year alone, Shaw has suffered three injuries. A setback in February ended his 2023/24 season prematurely. He returned in August for the 2024/25 season, only to pick up a calf injury before making his first appearance. After recovering last month, Shaw made two substitute appearances totaling 68 minutes before another injury sidelined him again.

As Shaw nears his 30th birthday on July 12, fans are suggesting that retirement might be the best choice. Many joke that he earns more in the clinic than on the field, urging him to consider stepping away from the game.

With his latest injury, the debate over Shaw’s future and the sustainability of his career continues to grow, leaving fans questioning his long-term prospects.
