The embattled Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, has responded to his removal by President Bola Tinubu.
Odoh stated on Thursday that he intends to resume duties at his office, maintaining that he has not committed any offense.
Timeless Update earlier reported that President Tinubu approved the dissolution of UNIZIK’s Governing Council on Wednesday.
Additionally, the President relieved Odoh of his position as Vice Chancellor, alongside Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike, the Registrar.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Odoh claimed he had not received formal communication about his removal.
He explained that his knowledge of the decision came from media reports, saying:
“The visitor set up this council. The council has not been summoned by anyone. I’ve received no written communication from the NUC or the Ministry asking the council to account for activities at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. There’s been no investigation or panel of inquiry.
“All I saw yesterday was information circulating in the media claiming I’ve been removed. My appointment wasn’t announced through a press release; it came via a formal process. I even have my appointment letter.
“After this interview, I’ll head to the office. I’ve done nothing wrong. I was appointed through due process, and it’s clear-cut.”
