COAS Orders Probe into Viral Allegations of Army Brutality in Abuja

The Nigerian Army has launched an investigation into a viral audio-visual recording circulating on social media, allegedly depicting a senior Army officer and two soldiers involved in an altercation with a man and woman in Abuja.

 

The Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, directed the immediate probe to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. While details remain unclear, the Army emphasized its commitment to upholding its constitutional duty of serving and protecting all law-abiding Nigerians.

 

The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on November 19, 2024, assured Nigerians of a thorough investigation, pledging that due diligence would be applied to ensure a logical resolution to the matter.

 

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its dedication to professionalism and accountability, urging the public to remain calm as the investigation unfolds.
