The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Ladi Adebutu, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over allegations related to last Saturday’s local government elections in the state.

According to reports, Adebutu is accused of transporting 40 “illegal policemen” from MOPOL 49 in Lagos to Ogun State on election day. He is also alleged to have moved around the Ikenne Local Government Area with PDP-affiliated individuals riding motorcycles, attempting to snatch ballot boxes while reportedly wielding guns and other weapons.

The arrest follows his release by the Department of State Services (DSS) earlier in the day.
