President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Bukola Olopade as the new Director-General of the National Sports Commission, alongside several other strategic appointments to key federal agencies.
Olopade, a seasoned sports administrator, is well-regarded for his extensive experience in youth and sports development. He previously served as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State, where he implemented numerous initiatives aimed at boosting grassroots sports. His leadership as chairman of the local organizing committee for the 2024 National Sports Festival further highlights his capabilities in managing large-scale sporting events.
In addition to Olopade’s appointment, the President also named Dr. Abisoye Fagade as the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism. Dr. Fagade is a marketing communication professional and the founder of Sodium Brand Solutions, a leading marketing firm. Dr. Adebowale Adedokun was appointed as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, bringing his experience as the former Director of Research/Training and Strategic Planning within the bureau. Daniel Bwala, a prominent lawyer and public affairs analyst, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media (State House).
The appointments were announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Onanuga conveyed President Tinubu’s expectations for the new appointees, urging them to serve with dedication, patriotism, and excellence in their respective roles.
