A significant boost has emerged for the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, as various market, artisan, and youth groups on Wednesday declared their backing for him.
They pledged to vote en masse for the APC in the upcoming local government election on Saturday, November 16.
During a stakeholders’ engagement held in Abeokuta, the groups—including youth associations, market leaders, traders, automobile technicians, tailors, carpenters, teachers, and other artisan groups—praised the leadership qualities of Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo. They declared him their preferred choice for the chairmanship of Abeokuta North LGA.
The groups also expressed support for the vice-chairmanship candidate, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, and the party’s 16 councillorship candidates, promising a bloc vote for all APC candidates in the council election on Saturday.
Representatives of the various groups, who spoke at what became a lively town hall meeting, voiced their appreciation for the humility of Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo in engaging directly with them and providing an opportunity to discuss his vision for the local government.
The Babaloja of Iberekodo market stated, “We have listened attentively to Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo and his plans for our local government. We are pleased with the development initiatives he has outlined. On behalf of all traders, the market leaders pledge unwavering support for your aspiration as the APC chairmanship candidate for Abeokuta North Local Government. We assure you, your vice-chairmanship candidate, and the councillorship candidates of our votes for the APC on Saturday.”
Similarly, the Iyaloja of Lafenwa market, Alhaja (Mrs.) Sidikat Owe, remarked: “We believe that your leadership will bring prosperity to our local government. We stand firmly with you and the APC, and we assure you of our votes for you and the party’s candidates to ensure a decisive victory.”
The Chairman of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Abeokuta North LGA, Mr. Lukmon Adenekan, voiced the association’s support: “We believe in your vision for our local government and are committed to mobilizing our members to vote for you and all APC candidates.”
Comrade Mujeeb Ajewugbade, President of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), a youth organization, declared: “Your dedication to youth development initiatives is exceptional, and we are confident you will deliver on your promises. You can count on our votes as a coalition of youths in Abeokuta North Local Government.”
Mr. Saheed, a leader of another artisan group, added: “We have witnessed your passion for the development of our communities, and we are convinced you are the right leader for Abeokuta North Local Government. Rest assured, we will rally our members to vote for you on Saturday.”
Expressing his gratitude on behalf of the APC candidates for the strong turnout at the stakeholders’ meeting, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo thanked the groups for their support and their pledge to vote for him and the party’s candidates.
“Your presence today and the overwhelming solidarity you have shown, along with your assurances of bloc votes for our party, the APC, on Saturday, November 16, reflect your confidence in our leadership and developmental plans for Abeokuta North Local Government. Your support is greatly encouraging, and we look forward to securing your votes in this crucial election,” he stated.
