Aregbesola Warns Tinubu of Possible Revolution Amid Economic Crisis

Former Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola expressed concern that the worsening state of the nation could potentially lead to a revolution capable of unseating the current government.

Aregbesola highlighted that the ongoing economic difficulties and rising inflation pose a significant threat to President Bola Tinubu’s administration if left unaddressed.

Speaking at a panel session during a national dialogue on the Parliamentary Bill organized by the Parliamentary System Support Group in the House of Representatives, Abuja, Aregbesola, a former close ally of Tinubu, shared his observations.

He noted the growing divide between the wealthy and the impoverished in the country. Aregbesola lamented the increasing concentration of wealth among a few individuals, contrasting it with the more balanced wealth distribution he experienced during his upbringing.

“We have seen a decline in the economic, political, and even spiritual well-being of Nigerians. It’s evident that a smaller percentage of Nigerians are becoming wealthy—not that prosperity is absent, but it is diminishing every day,” Aregbesola remarked.

He urged Tinubu’s administration to tackle these pressing issues to avert a potential uprising.

“When I was young, wealth was not as confined to a small elite as it is today. This indicates that we are in serious trouble,” Aregbesola warned. “We wouldn’t be having this discussion if everything was functioning properly in Nigeria.”

Aregbesola emphasized that any system denying people their rightful opportunities will inevitably face resistance.

He concluded, “If all else fails, people can resort to revolt. Being aware of this and understanding the potential consequences should motivate us to seek better ways of governance.”
