In a notable turn of events, the former Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has been elected as the new National President of the Union. The election was held on Saturday at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat along the Osogbo/Ikirun Road.
Delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti, representing the south-west states, participated in the voting process.
This election occurred during the union’s quadrennial delegate conference, observed by Aliyu Issa-Ore, the acting national president of the transport body.
Addressing the delegates, Issa-Ore noted that the union’s constitution allows the region entitled to the national president’s seat to elect a preferred candidate and present them to the national leadership.
Represented by Adedamola Salam, the head of finance at the national headquarters in Abuja, the acting NURTW president stated that the south-west zone adhered strictly to the constitution in electing MC Oluomo as the president.
Additionally, Tajudeen Agbede was elected as the vice-president for the south-west, while Akeem Adeosun was appointed as a trustee from the region.
After taking the oath of office, Akinsanya urged NURTW members to stay dedicated to safeguarding the union.
MC Oluomo’s Journey to Leadership

Hailing from Oshodi, Lagos, he began his journey with modest beginnings, dropping out of school and working as a bus driver before becoming the head of a motor park in Oshodi. His influence expanded, leading him to serve as the Lagos NURTW chairman for more than six years.
