The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaja Alirat Ayinke Matemilola, the mother of the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola. Alhaja Matemilola passed away peacefully on Sunday at the age of 81.

In a solemn statement issued by his media office, Senator Salisu extended his condolences to Oba Matemilola, the royal family, and the people of the Owu Kingdom. He described Alhaja Ayinke Matemilola as a “pillar of strength” whose life exemplified the values of dedication, wisdom, and selflessness.

“Alhaja Ayinke Matemilola was a guiding light and a matriarch whose influence shaped not only her family but also the community,” the Senator’s statement read. “Her legacy is profound, as demonstrated in the success and character of her seven children, each of whom has achieved prominence in their respective fields. She exemplified the essence of motherhood and her commitment to family has left an indelible mark.”

Reflecting on the life of Alhaja Matemilola, Senator Salisu noted that her sacrifices and dedication were evident in the remarkable achievements of her children, including His Royal Majesty, Oba Matemilola, who holds a distinguished doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

“A mother’s legacy is not measured by what she leaves behind in wealth, but in the lives she touched, the values she instilled, and the greatness she inspired,” he stated. “The success of each of her children is a testament to her strength, resilience, and the exemplary life she led.”

Senator Salisu prayed for Allah to grant Alhaja Matemilola Aljana Firdaus and called upon the people of Owu Kingdom to honour her memory by upholding the virtues she represented.

“The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation. On behalf of my family and the good people of Ogun Central Senatorial District, we mourn with the Owu Kingdom, and we celebrate a matriarch whose legacy will continue to resonate through her children and the lives she touched,” the statement concluded.

Alhaja Matemilola will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her nurturing spirit, and the legacy of excellence she leaves behind.
