The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled November 6 for mock accreditation in preparation for the Ondo State governorship election.
In a statement on Thursday, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, announced that the exercise would test the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal. The mock accreditation will use live voters at selected locations across the state.
Olumekun disclosed that 12 designated polling units across six local government areas, covering the three senatorial districts in the state, have been selected for the exercise.
In Ondo Central Senatorial District, the mock accreditation will take place in Akure South and Idanre LGAs. The selected centres include Alagbaka Primary School and Ijapo High School in Akure South, while Our Saviour Primary School and an open space near Plot 6, Owena, will serve as venues in Idanre.
For Ondo North Senatorial District, the exercise will occur in Owo and Akoko South-West LGAs. In Owo, Methodist Primary School and Imade College Gate are the designated centres, while Akoko South-West will use the Open Space at Ago Ajayi, Oba, and L.A. Primary School.
In Ondo South Senatorial District, Odigbo and Okitipupa LGAs have been selected. The designated locations include St. John’s Primary School and Isero Grammar School in Odigbo, and the Open Space at Oladipupo Lebi Street and Baptist Primary School in Ode Aye for Okitipupa LGA.
The mock accreditation will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on November 6. Olumekun urged registered voters in the selected polling units to come out with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), as only voters registered at the designated units will be accredited by the BVAS.
He added that a graphic with the names and locations of the centres has been uploaded to the INEC website and social media platforms for public awareness.
