Two transmission towers along the Shiroro–Kaduna line have been vandalized, causing a disruption in power supply to the North West region of Nigeria.
In a statement, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed the incident and announced plans to deploy its newly procured “emergency restoration system” to the site while reconstruction of the damaged towers is underway.
TCN also revealed that an aerial survey was conducted in collaboration with security operatives, noting that the area is vulnerable to banditry, which poses a risk to both installations and personnel.
As a temporary solution, bulk power is being supplied to Kaduna and Kano through the Kaduna–Jos transmission line.
