Gateway Progressive Youth Commends Ogun NDLEA, Calls for More Collaborative Efforts to Address Drug Abuse.

The leaders of the Gateway Progressive Youth paid a visit to the Commander, Ogun state command of NDLEA, CN Ibiba Odili, yesterday at the State Headquarters where it commended the efforts of the Agency, highlighting the role they are playing in addressing drug abuse among young people in the state.

 

Speaking during the visit, the group’s coordinator, Olufemi Bashorun, noted that the agency’s efforts are commendable and that addressing drug abuse in society is the responsibility of every stakeholder.

He said, “NDLEA has always been impressive with its campaigns to educate young people about drug abuse. These campaigns have been taken to schools, parks, and other places to educate the youth about drug abuse and its effects.

 

“Our group is a friend to the NDLEA, we have been a part of its campaigns, and are committed to doing more in our capacity to support the efforts of the Agency by taking the message to the very grassroots”. He added

Responding to the comments, Mrs Eucharia Ekwu, the Deputy Commander of Narcotics who represented the State Commander appreciated the group for acknowledging its efforts.

 

She said that the Agency is always open to working with youth organisations to create awareness that addresses drug abuse in the state.

 

Olamide David, the group’s Publicity Director applauded the Ogun state government for its support towards the drug abuse awareness campaign carried out by the NDLEA, highlighting the participation of the state’s First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, at this year’s edition of the June 26th annual campaign carried out by the Agency.

 

He added that the group will continue to engage stakeholders on the need to collaborate and unite their efforts to support the campaigns of NDLEA in Ogun state.

The meeting was also attended by Assistant Commander of Narcotics, M.A Gbadamosi; Assistant Commander of Narcotics, B.O Olalekan; the PRO, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, M.A Haris; and Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Obia Gladys.

 

Gateway Progressive Youth has pledged its support to the Agency, assuring them of the group’s commitment to creating more awareness about drug abuse in the state.
