Peter Obi: I’m Ready to Serve as Nigeria’s Vice President {Video}

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed openness to the idea of running as a vice-presidential candidate in the 2027 elections if he finds a candidate capable of better governance.

In an exclusive interview with New Central TV, monitored by SaharaReporters on YouTube, Obi shared that his main goal is to help Nigeria move forward in the next election.

When asked about the possibility of accepting a vice-presidential role, Obi responded, “I’m not desperate to be Nigeria’s president. I’m desperate to see Nigeria work. If there’s someone better equipped for the job, I will consider the role of Vice President.”

Obi also clarified that while he remains loyal to the Labour Party, he is open to alliances with politicians whose goals align with his vision for Nigeria’s future.

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to investigate Peter Obi and several others, including activist Aisha Yesufu and leaders of the pan-Yoruba group Afenifere, over allegations of misappropriating campaign funds during the 2023 election.

At a press briefing, Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, accused Obi and his associates of diverting over N12 billion and $15 million in donations intended for the party’s presidential campaign. Arabambi labeled Obi a “political merchant” and alleged that other prominent figures like Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo were involved in the mismanagement of campaign resources.
