Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended four individuals suspected to be members of the Aye Confraternity, allegedly terrorizing residents in the Ijoko area of Sango-Ota and its surroundings.
The suspects—Olanide Balogun, Olamilekan Oyedele, Adeolu Olayinka, and Abdulganiyu Azeez—were arrested during a police operation.
Confirming the arrests on Thursday, police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated that the suspects were caught around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Odutola explained that their modus operandi included smashing car windows and attacking unsuspecting road users during traffic jams.
She said, “The police received a tip-off about the suspects’ presence in certain areas of Ijoko. A team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Sango-Ota raided the location. Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee.”
The first suspect was apprehended after a chase, and the others were later caught with his help.
Odutola added that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries.
