A statement released by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), has refuted reports of a conflict between Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Adeola regarding the upcoming Local Government election in Ogun State.
The statement described a recent online blog post as “speculative” and intended to create a rift between the governor and the senator. Senator Adeola reaffirmed his commitment and loyalty to Governor Abiodun’s leadership in Ogun State APC and his administration.
The statement emphasized that Senator Adeola has made no statements or taken any positions contrary to those of the governor or the party regarding the LG election. It also noted that the senator is currently on vacation and will support the party’s candidates upon his return.
Additionally, the statement dismissed reports of a battle over the 2027 governorship ticket, clarifying that neither the governor nor the senator has declared any intentions or preferences.
The media adviser assured that any attempts to create a rift between the governor and the senator, similar to those before the 2023 elections, would fail.

OGUN LG ELECTION 2024: NO BATTLE BETWEEN GOV ABIODUN AND SEN YAYI
Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has been alerted to a story circulating on social media from an online blog, Platform Times, titled “LG Election 2024: Battle Intensifies As Senator Yayi’s Faction Challenges Abiodun’s Influence in Ogun APC.”
Ordinarily, this speculative story, lacking attribution to known contestants or protagonists, would not warrant a response. It seems to be one of the expected outcomes of the competitive struggle among aspirants seeking advantageous positions to represent the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, the senator is compelled to set the record straight after discovering a renewed, baseless plot aimed at falsely creating a rift between him and the APC leader in Ogun State, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.
For clarity, Senator Adeola reiterates his unwavering commitment and loyalty to Governor Abiodun’s leadership within Ogun State APC and to his administration—a commitment that predates the 2023 elections when some of today’s conspirators strongly opposed the governor’s leadership and tried to cause discord between the governor and the senator.
Regarding the upcoming Local Government election, which is now being used to drive a wedge between the governor and the senator, it is on record that Senator Adeola has not made any statements or taken any positions contrary to those of the governor or the party. In fact, the senator has been abroad on vacation since the process began, and upon his return, he will support the party’s candidates in the election.
It is expected that some aspirants in the upcoming APC LG elections will try to use the influence and popularity of both the governor and senator to their personal advantage, which is acceptable in a competitive internal contest. However, these actions should not be misconstrued as a sign of a “battle” or “rift” between the governor and senator.
As for the 2027 governorship ticket, which the writer suggests is fueling the alleged battle, neither the governor nor the senator has expressed any preferences or intentions for the position at this time. Senator Adeola’s focus remains on fulfilling his mandate for the people of Ogun West, in support of the governor’s efforts to deliver on the APC’s promises in Ogun State.
We once again assure those plotting or imagining conflicts between the governor and senator that these attempts will fail, just as they did before the 2023 elections.
Signed:
Chief Kayode Odunaro,
Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, CON
