Breaking: FUNAAB Student Allegedly Murdered by Friend After Demanding N3M Ransom Following Her Kidnap

A 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Idowu Christianah, was reportedly killed by her friend after he kidnapped her and demanded a N3 million ransom from her family.

According to details shared by an X user identified as Man of Letter, Christianah was declared missing on August 19, 2024, after her parents were contacted by her kidnappers through her WhatsApp account.

The report outlines the disturbing events:

HOW A FRIEND REPORTEDLY MURDERED IDOWU CHRISTIANAH AND BURIED HER IN HIS COMPOUND

On August 19, 2024, Christianah Idowu was declared missing after her abductors contacted her parents using her WhatsApp. The first message came around 8:49 PM, along with photos of the victim in captivity, sent using the WhatsApp ‘view once’ feature.

The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N1,500,000. Christianah’s parents were able to gather N350,000 and were instructed to send it to a betting account through bank deposit (specific details withheld).

After receiving the money on August 22, the kidnappers requested a bank statement from the family, which was sent on August 23. However, after this, communication from the abductors ceased.

On August 22, a sum of money was transferred from Christianah’s GTB account and withdrawn into a Wema Bank account linked to the prime suspect (name withheld).

Intelligence officers began investigating the account on August 26, and by August 29, confirmed that the BVN linked to the betting account belonged to the suspect, who also operated the Wema Bank account.

The suspect managed to withdraw N100,000 from the betting account before investigators locked it. Through further investigation, a close relationship between Christianah and the suspect was established through social media activity.

Shockingly, the same account used for laundering money had been posted on Twitter in the past, asking for giveaway funds.

Phone tracking led operatives to the suspect’s family home in Ikorodu, where Nigerian Army personnel from the 174th Battalion arrested him. Evidence, including Christianah’s blue ITEL A56 phone and records of the money transfer, was found in his possession.

The suspect’s email was linked to communications with Christianah’s family during the ransom negotiations. After reviewing the evidence, he was taken into custody for further investigation.

On August 3, the suspect allegedly confessed to his father and soldiers, admitting to killing Christianah and burying her in their home.

Reports also suggest a disturbing pattern, with claims that the suspect’s ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020 met similar fates.
