IGP Trains Special Intervention Squad on Tactical Operations

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has commenced a specialised training programme for the Special Intervention Squad, focusing on riot and civil engagement, as well as tactical operations.

This initiative is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational effectiveness and improve public safety.

The training aims to equip officers with advanced skills and strategies to handle civil disturbances and high-risk situations more effectively. Participants are receiving comprehensive instruction on crowd control, negotiation techniques, and the safe use of non-lethal weapons.

Several prominent figures and VIPs have commended the police for their commitment to professional development and fostering a culture of positive attitudinal change.

They praised the IGP’s leadership in prioritising training and capacity building as essential tools for maintaining law and order.

The Special Intervention Squad’s enhanced capabilities are expected to contribute significantly to the safety and security of communities across the country, reflecting the IGP’s vision of a more responsive and effective police force.
