The Ijebu Distinct Social Club has praised the Nigeria Police Force for apprehending notorious cultists, TJ Ijebu and Habib Okedara, in the Ijebu area of Ogun State.

In a statement signed by its President, Ogunsanya Abdulrasaq, the group expressed that the arrests have brought much-needed relief to the residents of Ijebu and its surroundings, and they called for swift legal proceedings.

“The Ijebu Distinct Social Club has been informed of the arrest of some notorious cultists in Ogun State. It will be recalled that on 2nd April 2024, we reached out to the Inspector General of Police, urging the apprehension and prosecution of several known cultists and backers of cult-related violence in Ogun State.

“We were pleased to hear about the arrest of TJ Ijebu and Habib Okedara, who is a well-known cultist with viral images showing illegal possession of firearms. This arrest reflects the proactive measures taken by the Ogun State Command of the Nigerian Police Force under the leadership of CP Abiodun Alamutu.

“We urge the police to continue their efforts to arrest other financiers of cult violence in Ogun State, including Akibu Titilayo (Efele), Akintunde Sunday (Scatter), and Elewide Taiwo Akile (Champion), among others, who are believed to sponsor cult-related activities.

“Information available to us indicates that these individuals have often claimed to be untouchable due to their alleged connections with the government, a notion we believe is intended to damage the reputation of our esteemed Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“We call on the Governor to ensure that justice is served. Anyone found guilty of involvement in cult violence or sponsoring cult-related activities should face the full weight of the law without any form of bias, for the sake of justice and posterity,” the statement concluded.
