Alake Urges New FCE Abeokuta Council Members, Management to Elevate College to University Status

The Paramount Ruler and Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has urged members of the 8th Governing Council and the Management of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, to diligently work towards the institution’s transition to a University of Education.

Oba Gbadebo made this call during a courtesy visit by the new Council members to his Palace at Ake, Abeokuta. He expressed confidence that the institution would achieve University status under their leadership.

“I hope that under this council, the palace will be invited to celebrate FCE Abeokuta’s elevation to a University of Education. I also pray that as they nurture other people’s children, their own will be equally nurtured and cared for,” Alake remarked.

He highlighted that the institution is fortunate to have skilled and dedicated Lecturers, seasoned Non-Teaching Staff, and state-of-the-art facilities to meet its goals.

In his address, the institution’s Provost, Dr. R. A. Soyele, expressed gratitude for the Monarch’s ongoing support and called for his continued royal blessings.

The Chairman, Alex Eyengho, who led the Governing Council team, assured His Royal Majesty that they were appointed to enhance the college’s value and build on its existing foundation.

Eyengho stated, “We will remain close to the Palace and collaborate for the College’s benefit. We are here to listen to you and follow your guidance.”
