Breaking: Security Forces Storm #EndBadGovernance Event in Lagos

A significant number of security forces, including officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) and police, have surrounded the headquarters of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ikeja, Lagos.

The security forces took position around the Rights House, located at 43, Adeniyi Jones Avenue, near Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja.

The event, part of the #EndBadGovernance movement, was organized to honor those who have died due to the effects of poor governance in Nigeria.

The public was invited to attend the solemn ceremony, with organizers requesting participants to dress in black and carry candles.

Earlier, the CDHR called for a rollback of the fuel subsidy removal amidst the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.

In a statement issued on Sunday, CDHR criticized the president’s recent national address for lacking clear timelines on his promises, arguing that the speech was too focused on the government’s self-praise, with little benefit for Nigerians.

The CDHR urged the government to set deadlines for its proposed solutions and demanded the immediate reinstatement of the fuel subsidy to curb hyperinflation and restore business operations affected by rising costs. They also called for the reversal of the electricity tariff increase.

Additionally, CDHR labeled the student loan scheme inadequate for addressing the funding issues in education and demanded investigations into human rights violations across the nation, ensuring justice and compensation for the victims.

However, the organization also urged protest leaders to avoid violence and damage to both public and private property.
