President Bola Tinubu has denounced the bomb attacks in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, which led to significant casualties.
PUNCH Online reported that a deadly bomb attack killed at least 18 people and injured many others on Saturday at a wedding ceremony in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama informed PUNCH Online that the bomber, identified as a young woman in her early twenties, detonated her explosive device amid the gathering, causing chaos and destruction.
Intelligence sources told Makama that the victims, all civilians, were returning from a wedding celebration when the attack occurred near a busy motor park.
Emergency services responded quickly, rescuing the injured and transporting them to hospitals in Gwoza.

Saturday’s bombing is the first in years since Boko Haram began its attacks across the country in 2009. Notable incidents include the bombing of the United Nations building in 2010 and the Nyanya motor park in Abuja in 2014.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President described the attacks as desperate acts of terror, reflecting the pressure on terrorists and the success in reducing their capacity to launch attacks.
The President declared that those responsible for the violence would be punished and assured that his government would not allow the nation to descend into fear and chaos.
The statement added, “The President stated that his administration is taking necessary measures to secure citizens, emphasizing that efforts will be intensified to ensure that those who disrupt law and order are completely removed.
“President Tinubu extends his condolences to the victims, the families of the deceased, as well as the government and people of Borno State.”
