President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), pending confirmation by the Senate.
Mr. Bello, a seasoned lawyer, administrator, and distinguished journalist, brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role.
With an illustrious career spanning decades, Mr. Bello’s journey in public service and journalism is marked by significant achievements. He served as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government and holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
A member of the Nigerian Bar since 2002, Mr. Bello commenced his journalism career at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he held key editorial roles including Group Political Editor and Editor, National Concord.
His journalistic excellence earned him the prestigious US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and later saw him appointed as Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers.
In addition to his journalistic prowess, Mr. Bello has contributed to governance in Lagos State, serving as Commissioner for Environment across various administrations. His multifaceted background underscores his capacity to lead the FCCPC effectively.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Mr. Bello will champion the FCCPC’s mandate to safeguard Nigerian consumers’ interests and ensure the enforcement of standards in goods and services.
