Atiku Asks “I Hope You’re Okay” After Tinubu’s Fall at Democracy Day Event

Ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar conveyed his sympathies to President Bola Tinubu after Tinubu stumbled while entering a vehicle at Eagle Square during Democracy Day festivities. The mishap took place on Wednesday morning following Tinubu’s nationwide address.

The president missed a step while boarding the vehicle, prompting his aides to assist him quickly. Atiku responded with concern, saying, “I do hope that all is well with him.”

“I sincerely sympathize with President Bola Tinubu over this unfortunate incident, as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him,” Atiku commented on X.

However, many social media users viewed Atiku’s statement skeptically, suggesting it was insincere.

Earlier, Atiku criticized the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) for Nigeria’s economic difficulties, attributing the past nine years of hardship to the ruling party.

“Nigerian democracy remains fragile if it fails to deliver prosperity and liberty. The past nine years have seen extreme hardship, marked by poverty and unprecedented violence. The APC is responsible for this bleak period,” Atiku stated.

“But the opposition parties are even more culpable than the ruling party for their inability to unite and create a coalition that can oust the ruling party and propose a governance plan that earns Nigerians’ trust.”

Meanwhile, Bashir Ahmad, former aide to Muhammadu Buhari, downplayed the incident, saying, “The President misstepped and continued his activities as planned. Everyone can misstep, and presidents are no exception. Do we really need to politicize everything?”
