EFCC Initiates Probe into Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai

A dedicated unit of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is launching a thorough investigation into the alleged financial misconduct involving former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Timeless Update has learned that the task force conducted an extensive meeting on Monday, reviewing the findings of the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, which accused the former Governor of embezzling N423 billion.

A source cited by The Nation revealed that the EFCC plans to summon El-Rufai and his former associates for questioning.

Those expected to be questioned include Finance commissioners from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023; all accountant generals during his eight-year term, and the chairpersons of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) from 2018 to 2023.

This also includes former managing directors of the Kaduna Market Development and Management Company Ltd during the period from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023, and the former managing directors of Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA) from October 11, 2017, to November 2021, excluding Amina Ja’afar Ladan, who had a brief one-month term.

“We have received a petition from an NGO. Consequently, we have initiated an investigation into the issues raised.

“The report from the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Kaduna State House of Assembly is crucial. We will soon summon El-Rufai and his team for questioning.

“The Special Task Force held an extensive session on Monday, focusing on the petition and the committee’s report.

“The House of Assembly’s report provides a substantial basis for our probe,” the source stated.
