The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspected cultists and armed robbers following a tip-off from concerned citizens. The information provided to the police led to a series of arrests in different parts of Lagos State, along with the recovery of firearms and ammunition.
The first arrest was made in the Iba area, where the police apprehended 34-year-old Chinonso Bright. According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the initial investigation into Chinonso’s activities led to further arrests in the Jakande-Lekki area. There, the police detained Efanyi Chukwu, aged 23, and Alexander Chiemarie, aged 28.
In a Twitter post from the Lagos State Police Command, SP Hundeyin detailed the items recovered from the suspects. The police seized three locally made semi-automatic pistols, one locally made revolver, four rounds of live cartridges, and 129 rounds of 9mm ammunition. These items were in the possession of the suspects at the time of their arrest.
The police have indicated that the suspects will be arraigned once the ongoing investigation is concluded. The arrests underscore the importance of community collaboration in crime prevention and control. The police command has encouraged citizens to continue providing information to help combat crime and ensure public safety in Lagos State.
